A dark amber beer with a full malty palate. Slightly burnt, bitter aftertaste, and a superbly smoky flavour. A staple of Lewes Bonfire Night festivities.
Originally brewed to commemorate the gallant work of the Fire Brigade during the fire at the brewery in July 1996 and was originally called ‘Firecracker’.

Cask at The White Horse Old Ale Festival, London. Pours clear ruby with a light, white foam head. Lots of ripe fruits in the nose, apple, banana. Big sweet flavor, pretty malty, with ripe fruits, bread and light toffee. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with more toffee and ripe fruits, bread, more banana. Very pleasant stuff.

(Cask at Royal Oak, Borough, London, 25 Nov 2009) Reddish amber colour with brief head. Fruity, malty nose with dried fruit, yeast, citrus peel, earthy hops and that slightly sulphury house character of the brewery. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, caramel, earthy hops and a touch of yeast. Almost full body, fairly sweet. Potent and warming beer for a dark November evening. Very nice.

Dark amber color. Medium caramel aroma, with a light fruitness similar to apples. Good caramel flavor, sweet, round mouthfeel, lightly fruity, with a perfect balance with bitterness. Very good.

Dark amber color. Quite malty aroma. Very round taste, some sweetness, very good malt, lightly fruity (the yeast, I guess), sweet caramel, the bitterness tries to rise at the end. Excellent.
