Bottle shared at the Shri Glass tasting in London. Thanks to Jack for the USA whale. Pours mostly clear amber with a fine, creamy tan head. The nose has dried fruitcake, brown sugar, soft earth, figs. Big sweet flavor with lots of somewhat dried brown sugar, standard dates and figs, faint earthy bitterness. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Quite sweet to finish, lots of brown sugar, figs, fruit cake. Great stuff.

2013 bottle.Aroma is full of dark fruit with prune, plum, cherry and raisin. Lots of dark caramel, treacle and toffee. Some light bourbon character along with charred oak, vanilla and almond. Hints of roast and chocolate. As it warms the caramel and treacle become more noticeable as does the barrel characteristics.Pours brown with dark ruby highlights and a very thin, almost non existent light tan head that quickly disappears. No lacing buy medium sized legs.Flavor is similar to the aroma with a lot of sweet caramel, treacle and toffee. Moderate fruit notes of prunes, raisins, cherries and plums. Very sweet with some medium light bitterness. Moderate barrel character with light bourbon, some vanilla, almond and charred oak. Lingering dark fruit and caramel with a hint of roast.Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with low carbonation (almost none). Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall a very enjoyable beer on the darker sweeter end of what a barleywine should be. Lots of sweet malt notes with tons of dark fruit complexity. Barrel character is lighter than expected but still noticeable. Probably a bit too sweet for my preferences.

On tap at Alpine, pours an opaque orangey burgundy with a small beige head. Aroma brings out sweet caramel malts, bourbon barrels, and booze - very sweet and boozy. Flavour is very fruity and sweet, with loads of stone fruits, sweet caramel, and a little heat, though the alcohol is pretty well-concealed. Quite sweet, but well-brewed. Good stuff.

Bottle shared by AlohaC. Pours with a clear bronze hued body with a small off-white head. Aromas are of bourbon, huge brown sugar notes, vanilla, chocolate, nutty, molasses, marzipan. Pretty epic. Flavors are of maple, bourbon, oak, vanilla, chocolate, nutty, fudge. Damn good. Big. Still pretty bitter, warming, low carbonation, full bodied, chewy even. Delicious.

Gut! 9/12/12/11/11/12/12

355 ml bottle. Amber body with a thin layer of off-white foam. Strong, complex and nice aroma of sweet caramel, dry fruit, malt, strong oak, vanilla, sherry and warming alcohol. Flavor is almost extreme sweet, malt, caramel, meat broth, dry fruit, bourbon, oak and alcohol. Full body, long aftertaste. A great beer, very nice and flavorful, but almost to intense for me.

Bottle 355ml @ yngwie
Pours cloudy brown with a small off-white head. Aroma has notes of bourbon, coconut, caramel, barley and oak. Taste is medium sweet with a long coconut finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat.

Bottle, 12oz. A clear one, brown in color and almost without head, just some beige bubbles round the rim. Meaty, umami aroma with a salty touch, Coconut, wood notes, bourbon, caramel, alcohol and some oxidation. It’s full-bodied and warming. Meaty, alcohol flavor with lots of other flavors. Pine cones, citrus, oxidation, caramel, port, coconut and bourbon. Lasting finish. Love it, but I doubt a bottle on my own would be a good idea. Would probably take some time to finish a bottle. 110301

Aroma was sweetness brown sugar, caramel, toffee, vanilla, oak, vanilla, and of course bourbon. Taste was much as the aroma plenty of the sweetness, oak and bourbon from the barrel. Footbalm always throws something awesome down at our testing’s. Thanks again buddy.
