In order to establish this mead we have combined the traditional brew with dried hibiscus. In addition to the color this spice adds an aromatic and floral aftertaste to this mead, like a good madeira.

Bottle. Pours caramel brown. Nose/taste of honey, wood, grains, flower petals and vanilla. Cloyingly sweet at times. Some herbal notes.

5 oz pour from a bottle. An amber mead. Aroma is very cool and herbal, with mint, honey. Medicinal alcohol aromatics. Flavor starts with mint but goes into very strong, sweet honey. Quite syrupy, with a touch of herbal hop notes. My first mead, and it’s extremely tasty.

My first foray intot he world of meads, and i really didnt know what to expect. I read the ratings for this one and decided to get it. Very sweet, very honey-ish. I suppose i expected a little more of a beer-like palate, but its more like honey mixed with a whiskey or cognac. not my thing but i loved trying it.

Vinous honey aroma, strong and hot. Clear amber almost copper, still. Thick, syrupy, and very sweet. It has "mead lacing", which unlike beer is a not a good sign, IMHO. Vinous initially, but the honey flavor barges in and eliminates any trace of grape wine. Alcohol content high and obvious, excessive for my delicate palate. Too strong and sweet to detect any nuance or complexity. The Manishewitz of mead. People love it, but I find it off balance and overdone.

Bottle thanks to eric. Thick deep golden body and strong legs. Aroma is minty with hibiscus, eucalyptus, alcohol and various german schnapps. Taste is alcohol, earthy, herbal, hibiscus and tobacco. Big. Despite liking this, I think I had a bit of an allergic reaction to it as some of my fellow tasters noticed my face go from normal colored to a bright red with in 30 seconds of the first sip. Maybe I have a problem with hibiscus.
