Bottle split at Chris & Ruth's pre GBBF Shin Dig, cheers for all the shares, 05/08/17. Black pour with a solid tan cap. Nose is bitter roast, chocolate, spice, charr, dark fruit rinds, subtle whisky oak. Taste comprises fruit cake, toffee, dark malts, chocolate, spice, barrel, dates, raisins. Full body, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough BA impy but doesn't quite get out of 4th gear.

50cl Bottle, thanks Harmen! BB March 2019, so I guess 2017 vintage. What's the difference between these vintages anyway? Black colour, beige head. Aroma of smooth whisky, some fruitcake, roasted malts, liquorice, mocha, very soft and smooth. Flavour of roasted malts, whisky, wood, light fruity, hint of tar, mocha, some dark chocolate, bitter finish. Full bodied, smooth, subtle. Fell a bit short after the very peaty Kees 17.04, but this is quality stuff.

Thank you for sharing! Sampled draft @ Borefts 2017. Day 1. Black. Nose is heavy roast, chocolate, very grainy cacao. Taste is herbal, powdery, quite roasted but in a good way, coffee grounds. Grainy, roast bodied but rather thick. Good balance. Pretty solid, nice, not sure about the extreme hype that this beer got at the festival but I dug it.
