Bottle shared at Chris and Ruth Pre-GBBF 2017 tasting - London. Cheers! Pours brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose holds burnt wood, light cocoa. Medium to big sweet flavour with notes of ash, more chocolate, alcohol. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish, ample bittersweet baking cocoa, ashy roast. Nice overall.

Shared bottle. Dark brown with a thin, foamy brown head. Sweet aroma of whiskey and dried fruit. Flavour is similar with a solid caramel undertone. Not the most complex but very nice

Black beer, thin beige head. Smell is sweet, boozy, fruity malt. Tastes of the whiskey aging throughout, with malt, fruit, chocolate. Smoky whiskey aftertaste. Rich, earthy and a touch boozier than would be ideal bit this is pretty damn tasty.

Bottle from O'Brien's, Athlone [031217]
A4, N7, T7, P3, O14
Pitch black, tan head, light lacing
Aroma - Dark malts, whisky notes, getting the booze, not a big aroma tbh
Taste - Dark malts, prominent whisky, doesn't seem to be much depth in the malts, alcohol not hidden at all, there are some rich malts in there but overshadowed with the booze
Palate - Soft carb, medium to full body, seems higher than 10%. Finish as main flavour
Overall - Boozy, not as good as previous years
