When we saw our head brewer Amy heading back from a nearby farm with a punnet of freshly-picked wild Scottish raspberries, we knew jam wasn’t on her mind. Sure enough, they were the latest under-bonnet tinkering with our beloved Old Engine Oil.

bottle. pitch dark, smooth light brown head. aroma is raspberries, hard roasted malts. flavor is roasted malts, raspberries. quite flavorful porter, with tons of fresh raspberry flavor, and a a little raspberry jam flavor.

Very dark ruby colour, small beige head. Toasted aroma has hints of licorice and raspberry. Medium-bodied. Toasted flavour, a bit earthy even, light licorice and raspberry. Not sure if this is really better than regular one or gains anything but quite drinkable.

Bottle 330ml. [ As Harviestoun Raspy Engine ].Clear medium to dark brown colour with a average, open and frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, dark malt, roasted, caramel, sweet malt, raspberry notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, raspberry, dark malt, roasted. 330ml bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with reddish hue and a small, creamy, long lasting, tan head that laces. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and raspberries. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, licorice, dark chocolate and raspberries with a dry, bitter coffee finish. Medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are roast malt, raspberries, chocolate, licorice and hops. Light bitter finish.

330ml bottle: BBD Apr 2018. Poured into a Westmalle chalice at home on 27th Sep 2017. Obtained from Beers of Europe. Deep, darkest ruby body, tanned head that left before it arrived. Less raspberry's in the nose than in the taste, where there is a dominant flavour of the red berry's. Different, but not something I will seek out again. Too dry and berry bitter/tart for my delicate palate.

Pours black, topped with small and non-lasting beige head. Gently sweet, syrupy raspberry aroma, just a hint of roastiness in the back. Funny taste - an unbalanced mix of decent roastiness and syrupy sweetness with a bit of soury fruit feel later on. Medium body. Not bad, but roasty and fruity character don't work together, they're both too intrusive. Still easily drinkable, but...

Pours a real black colour with hardly any highlights. The head is beige, big, frothy, long lasting with thick creamy lace. Fruity raspberry juices over roasted malts and hints of chocolate. The taste shows a nice blend of the toasted malts and light raspberries. Not too thick of a mouthfeel with some decent dryness in the finish, making this easy to drink and not too rich.
