Cloudy amber color; the medium sized head is short lived. Aroma of malt, quite traditional Barley Wine style, but also a light fruity touch; later, there is a note of grass and honey. The body is well structured, the mouthfeel round, and the flavor very sweet; there is sweet malt and caramel, candi sugar; the alcohol is surely present and evident, but well blended with the malt and contributing to the balance; as expected from this kind of Barley Wines, there is a nutty side; some lingering fruity trace too; the biterness is correctly strong, without excess.
At this degree of alcohol, interesting.

2010-09-24, draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen, 8-4-8-4-16=40
Hazy red-amber color, without head, oily. The aroma is sweet, with malt, and a fruity note that reminds me the Thomas Hardy’s Ale. Full bodied, the mouthfeel is both thick and oily; very good malt flavor, toffee, very sweet; the alcohol is clearly present, drawing a line from the Thomas Hardy’s, maybe too much; indeed there is a light exogenous element that reminds of the sakés; the final is a bit sandy, with traces of sweet nuts, wood and sweet liquorice too. The bitterness is quite high, but it’s a bit lost here.
Josh’ comment about Samichlaus comes to mind, according to which they use alcohol to balance sweetness (or viceversa). It could as well be a Barley Wine; pleasant but indeed still a bit rough. I would not bet on its ageing potential.

Bottle: Poured a light amber colour ale with a small foamy head with minimal retention and not much lacing. Aroma of varnish and loads of alcohol ester is not enjoyable at all. Taste is dominated by paint varnish notes with loads of alcohol showing. Body is kind of thin with oily texture and medium-low carbonation. Absolutely the worse thing I have tasted from this brewer; the alcohol i showing way too much and the paint varnish smell is awful. This is one hell of an expensive drain pour.

25 cl bottle from Systembolaget. Almost clear, copper liquid with small, off-white head. The head dissipates in a matter of minutes. Malty aroma with notes of caramel, roasted malt, fruits, honey and maybe some herbal hops. Taste is also quite malty and very sweet and medium bitter. The alcohol is very well hidden. Medium to full bodied with sticky texture and OK carbonation. Long finish with quite a lot of alcoholic burn. Overall, a "dessert beer" which is well made but very much a sipper. Nothing you want to drink fast or in high quantities. 25 cl is absolutely enough.

Bottle. Amber beer with a low off-white head. Earth and malt aroma with light yeast and light alcohol. Malt and caramel flavor with alcohol, light fruitiness, and light earth. Medium bodied. Malt and caramel linger with alcohol, fruit, light earth, and light spice.

Bottled:
Pours a glowing orangey amber with a small head. Aroma is toffee, marshmallows and alcohol. Flavour is very boozy and has notes of candy and raisins. This was way too boozy.

25 cl bottle from Systembolaget. Brewed: 08/06/2009 - BB: 08/06/2014. Sampled on April 16, 2011Label also stamped with 090613 - 090610 and 512.Hazy copper color, pretty small white head. Faint hoppy and spicy scent, mainly alcohol, unusual. Sweet, bitter, raissin, alcohol, warming, soy, salty, some fruit taste. Loads of arming alcohol.Hard to define, no real experiences to compare against what I’m feeling.Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Pretty good, but could have been a lot weaker in alcohol.I do like, no wait LOVE, the fact that a high alcohol beer comes in a small bottle, had it been bigger than 33 cl I wouldn’t have bought it. 25 cl was good to share between 3 ppl.

8.5oz bottle pours clear pale copper – gold with micro thin white head. The aroma is a bit hot and mixing with plums, dried peaches and raisins as well as a sense of vague hoppiness. The taste gives a good impression of a barleywine with sugar coated raisins, syrup coated prunes and dried cherries. By midway various citrus hop notes join in and progress from flavor hops to bitter hops before the whole thing sinks into hot booziness. Yummy hop forward brew that’s a sipper for sure.
