Sella del Diavolo (devil's saddle) has the aroma of caramel enhanced by strong fruity notes of morello cherry and prune but also has herby and peppery notes resulting from a clever use of aromatic hops.
On the palate it is warm and winy with an appropriate dryness that balances the beer with its sweet fruity notes, toasted and slightly smoky notes and sharp and bitter notes, giving it a particular longlasting aftertaste. As a table beer, Sella del Diavolo works very well with traditional Sardinian dishes such as roast lamb and suckling pig cooked on the spit, as well as with medium matured cheeses. Its biscuit notes make it ideal also as a drink with sweet chocolate cakes or with almond or dried fruit cakes.

Pours deep amber with reddish hints, a bit hazy. Gets a medium sized head, the slighest off-white, good enough persistence and not much lacing. Quite good intensity and nice depth in the aroma: a quite strong caramel base with a biscuity note as a plus, the slightest vinous hint, fruity notes of candied orange with lighter stone fruit hints. Feels quite vivid in taste too: notes more or less as per aroma (though i can't get the vinous component now), maybe with just a hint of herbal notes to bring a bit of freshness. A pretty sweet beer in the overall balance, both in taste and aftertaste: a clean and decently deep, far from unpleasant sweetness, but it can get a bit annoying when drinking a full bottle. Good taste definition in a nicely clean taste profile. Medium body, medium to high carbonation; a decent easy drinker for the abv with just a hint of creamy fullness. Overall: labeled as a biere de garde by the brewery, but very loosely one. Anyways, a well made, slightly old-style, more or less belgian ale.

Bottiglia.

375ml bottle from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours red, hazy, with moderate fine white foam. Aroma is cherry, woody. Body is average, like carbonation. Taste is moderately sweet, with limited bitterness and a small hint of sour. Final is fairly malty.

Rich deep ruby tinted amber coloured body with a light brown glow and a super-thin, ultra large bubbled head, not even seemingly carbonated at all. Aroma of toasted malt, rice, grain, light metallic notes, a dose of astringent bitterness from the malt with no hops at all, and only a touch of caramelised sugars towards the end. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grainy flavours at first with only a dose of malts, a touch of barnyardie funk from the yeast with a lot of caramelised sugars and pitted fruit sweetness noticeable towards the end with not much body to support the grain. Aftertaste shows the caramelised sugars, a touch of the fruity notes and a tiny bit of the tinny and metallic malty flavours with little else, and again - no body at all. Overall, a pretty poor beer with only the malt really noticeable and a touch of sugars - but not much of a biere de garde to me at all. I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased from Kona Beer/Wine Market in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii [island] on 29-December-2018 for US$13,30 sampled in my hotel room here in Kona, Hawaii on 31-December-2018.

Pretty clear red brown beer, big solid creamy yellowish head, very stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet malts, lots of chocolate, caramel. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body, smooth texture. Taste: little bitter, malty, grains, chocolate, bit sweet, sourish. Aftertaste: little bitter, chocolate, malty, caramel, ripe banana.

0,75 bottle purchased at Baccusardus in Villasimius (Italy), consumed at home. A fantastic pour, amber/orange bright and a bit hazy with a frothy and creamy cap. Nose: much roast, soft smokiness, a bit cheesy in a way, wet wood, sultana. Mouth: carbonation is medium to high, again roasted grains, grounded barley, the finish is clean and kind of watery (+). I have perceived a note of burnt wire somehow, which honestly I should try to determine if is an off thing or something I messed up. Good beer all in all.

Bottle shared at chriso’s Post-GBBF Shindig 2014 - London. Pours unclear golden with a creamy white head. Novel, with light Belgian yeast character, bread, dough, some ripe orange. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with light bitter hay and orange peel, more doughy bread, yeast. Not bad overall.
