A beer with an amber coloured body, orange reflections and a dense cream-coloured head which is brewed with toasted malts.
Sella del Diavolo (devil's saddle) has the aroma of caramel enhanced by strong fruity notes of morello cherry and prune but also has herby and peppery notes resulting from a clever use of aromatic hops.
On the palate it is warm and winy with an appropriate dryness that balances the beer with its sweet fruity notes, toasted and slightly smoky notes and sharp and bitter notes, giving it a particular longlasting aftertaste. As a table beer, Sella del Diavolo works very well with traditional Sardinian dishes such as roast lamb and suckling pig cooked on the spit, as well as with medium matured cheeses. Its biscuit notes make it ideal also as a drink with sweet chocolate cakes or with almond or dried fruit cakes.

Bottle shared at Chriso’s post GBBF minidig, 16/08/14 picked up from somewhere in Roma I imagine. Hazed orange amber with moderate off white spotting and edgework. Nose is fruit punch, spice, bready notes, apricot, dark fruit. Taste comprises fruit loaf, bread, bitter orange, spice, light citric peel, vanilla. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Ok for style.

Bottle from GBBF 2013 and drunk at home. Clear mid brown colour with a thin lasting beige head. Toffee aroma. It’s got some malt, some fruit, vague hop on finish. Not much of a biere de garde, not much of a beer to be honest.

Bottle from Pazzeria, Milan
Hazy amber color with medium sized creamy head. The aroma has both notes of stale and of fruits; some vegetables and very light benzoate. Medium body strength, with some malt flavor and light fruit notes; medium to strong bitterness and even some alcohol perception; there is some bitterness in the end similar to the apricot stones (apricot almonds).
There is some weirdness, some outfit feeling in this beer; not Belgian, not too bad…

Bottle in Rome, purchased from Domus Birrae. Hazy amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Light dry palate. Low carbonation. Light malt. Trace of apple. Semi dry finish. Dull malty beer!

330 from Oak Tree. Pours hazy copper with a two finger foamy beige head. Aroma is sweet funk. I didn’t know that was a possible combination. Near fullbodied with very light carbonation. Flavor is sweet pale stone fruit combined with dates. I didn’t know that was possible. Is it sweet? Arguably. Is it dry? Not exactly. Is it funky? Moderately. Is it fruity? Well what kind of fruit? Define the terms! Oh. Sorry. It seems to be a rather grapey ale. It is oh so good. Oh so fine. Doing the best things oh so conservatively. Wait. That went off the rails. Great ale!
