The ale started out in 1996 as a winter-only brew. However, the rich malty character and well-balanced hop aroma proved so popular, we decided to make it available all year round.

Creamy, full-bodied and smooth, Blaven is also somewhat deceptive – the strongest of our regular ales.

Malts: Pale Ale, Crystal

500mml bottle. Deep gold in colour, with a decent, off-white, head. A malty beer, with a touch of leafy hop and some caramel. Ok.

500ml. bottle. @The Misty, Skye (Scotland). 06/08/2023 [#6.681 Global - #217 Scotland - #1 Isle of Skye Brewing Co. (My Scottish brewery #73)] Pours clear pale golden with a white head. Aroma: bready malts, mild spices, zesty and pithy. Taste: some coriander and dough. Bitter palate. Medium bodied and lingering bitter finish. Next one please!

500ml bottle as part of a delivery from the brewery. Golden brown aroma, clear with a small ring of white head. Hay and toffee on the nose, a little bit of buttered toast. It's fairly sweet and malty, with lots of corn syrup and caramel. Light hop bitterness near the finish. Fairly heavy carbonation. It's drinkable but pretty dull.

500ml bottle from the brewery. Poured a clear golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, gluey toffee, light yeasty, light woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a crisp, earthy, mineral, light citrus, dry hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Aus der Flasche 2015-05 getrunken. Ein sehr einfaches, aber süffiges Bitter. Etwas Langweilig, aber nicht schlecht!
