Bomber from GM Liquors. Nose of caramel, toffee, and a light molassey note. Clear rusty brown with a medium glass lacing beige head. Flavor is sweet caramel with some bubblegum and light alcohol.. Finish is lightly bitter with alcohol warmth. I like this doppelbock!

Bottle. Ruby-copper color with a light tan head. Malty, slightly sweet, slight noble hop aroma. Caramel and toffee flavor with some backing sweetness and a bit of fruitiness. Medium bodied. Toffee lingers with a bit of dark malt, light sweetness, and some frutiiness.

Draught, Brother Tucker’s
Bright red, slight haze. Light, thin foam. Fresh, fruity (peach) aroma with light caramel. Sweet front, fairly boozy middle with lots of peach, and some plum/pear esters. The finish is very rich, cut only by alcohol.

Pours a clear dark amber, with a soapy, lasting lace - aroma of chocolate, raisin, fig, caramel - the flavor is caramel sweet, with some spicy hops and peppery alcohol heat - somewhat creamy mouthfeel - some raisin and cherry - a bit of sherryish character - finishes with some whiskey-like notes - fairly easy drinking for its strength - one of the better high grav brews from this brewer.

Bottle from the Coop in Davis, CA. Dark copper color with a slight white head. Aroma of rich caramel with fruit notes. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Flavor is rich caramel malt and some dark fruit and wood hints. Bready. Quite full and tasty. No skimping on ingredients. Finishes polished and smooth with floral hop. Alcohol is quite subdued. Could be tricky!

On tap at the Oldsmar Tap House. Pours crystal clear amber with gold edges and semi firm, semi bumpy tan head. The aroma is only moderate in strength with dark fruity esters and faint malts. The taste begins with a rush of malt, cherry, prune, perfectly ripe plums and brown sugar sweetness. Its all sweet and comes together nicely. The sweetness wanes a bit by midway as floral hop flavor and bitterness make an appearance. It gets just a bit rough into the finish as the hints of the alcohol murmur to the fore. But it is plenty restrained considering it’s listed at 10% ABV. It ends less sweet than it started. It doesn’t really approach the style shown here as a Doppelbock. So I’m rating it with no regard style.

Tap @ OTH. Pours amber, beige color. Aroma is syrupy / licorice with malts. Taste malty, lots of syrupy/caramel tones, some fruits (grapefruit, possible dark sweet fruits, such as figs or apricot/orange giving a very sugary mouthfeel). Boozy, reminded me more of strong ale with barley tones. than a doppelbock. As a matter of fact it sounded more like a stronger version of their Freaktoberfest. At soem point, you seem to get more of the alcohol than anything else.

Pour is a dark brown with a foamy tan head. Aroma is heavy on the caramel with some candi sugar and molasses. Flavor is a nice roasted malt to start out but then comes the alcohol bomb. Why does this brewer insist on making every beer boozed out the wazoo? It has enough for a sample but there are better dopples out there.

Candied nose, sugary and toffee. Berry like fruitiness is pretty weird. Very very sweet, def cloying. A bit reminiscent of cherry liqueur. Woof. Pure amber color. Heavy, sticky palate. After a time it starts to get rather medicinal, like a thick sweet cough syrup. Not good.

22 ounce bottle from somewhere.... I can’t recall sadly. Pours a reddish tinted brown with a medium head. Average head retention with good lacing. Aroma is caramel and berry-like fruit notes. Taste is toffee, bread, slight hops. Full bodied.
