Sampled @ Zythos Bierfestival 2015 Klare goldgelbe Farbe, ordentliche weiße Schaumkrone. Geruch süß malzig, getreidig, grasig. Geschmack grasig hopfig, dann wird es malzig süß, getreidig.

From tap. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is grassy and light phenolic. Bitter and herbal. Dry. Phenolic and light yeasty. Bitter and toasted to grassy finish.

Top-fermented spring Bock with frothy, rocky, thickly lacing, snow white head towering over a slightly hazy, deep golden blonde, clear beer with slow sparkling. Very ’Belgian’ aroma of red apple, honey, soap, freshly cut grass, cheese spread, sweet white grapes, overripe peaches, candied apricot, banana, powder sugar, some iron, white bread. Tastes sweet and sugary at first, fortunately not cloying too much, with a moderate fruitiness of peaches, banana and overripe pears, medium carbo, smooth and lean body, bready malt sweetness, dried apricot, honeyish even; finishes in the same malty sweetness, with a subdued grassy hoppiness for balance, but the sweetness remains, without becoming too sticky. Pretty straightforward, but a nice Bock to celebrate spring. Okay for its style, sweet and soft as expected from a spring Bock, but the soapy aroma is a bit much and I did expect more from this brewery, considering the great pieces of work they have come up with so far.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Clear golden with a white head. Malty aroma with some fruitiness and some spice. Taste is sweet with some hopbitterness. Decent

Tap at Lemmy’s. Blonde, medium head. Sweet honey malt nose, biscuits, but of citrus, spices from the yeast. Sweet and rich, honey, bread, a bit spicy. rich full body. Decent but a bit sweet and simple.

Tap at Rootz at the Harbour. Poured a hazy medium amber with a thin white head and some broken lace. The aroma is big yeast, creamy caramel and zesty citrus. The flavour is light bitter sweet with a light smooth sweet malt, fruity, biscuit palate. Light bodied with average carbonation. Served cool, it’s a decent refreshing beer but a little too light for me.

25 cl. draft @ ’t Antwaerps Bierhuyske. Clear golden with a small white head. Nose is a quite metallic with vanilla sugar sweetness (causing me to think of the last Heller Bock that I have had, same note comes through in the taste), faint lemon, sweet sorbet, touch white bread, sweet yeast. Taste is once again a bit too metallic for me same sweet sugar and vanilla sugar, feels a bit thin, iron-like in the taste, sweet white sugar, white bread, faint yeast. Clean metallic body. Okay beer but could have been more.
