12 oz. can, pours jet black, like motor oil, no head. Aroma is full of intense maple syrup, big bourbon barrels, and dark sugars. Flavour has huge maple syrup, big bourbon barrels, sticky sugars, burnt notes. A bit brutal and lacking complexity, but that’s par for the course for Double Stack nowadays.

Undated can drunk 3/2/25.
Dark, undetermined clarity. Small, tan head, low retention.
The bourbon is poignant initially, both in aroma and flavor. The sweetness is appropriate to balance with moderate amounts of fruity, roasty coffee. Maple is strong in both unfermented and fermented flavors. To that end, I don't think maple is easy to do in beer and I think it's a bit overdone here, adding too much maple and pepper flavor (though not too much sweetness). Similarly, the coffee, while not overdone, still provides some very strong notes that linger somewhat dominantly. It's all a bit too disjointed yet. The whiskey, sticky but not quite too syrupy texture, and low roast are high points and this feels like another year could yield better results.

Dark brown. Not much head. Big, sticky, coffee galore, and lots of barrel. Not subtle. So much chocolate, so much maple. But I'm here for it.

Noticeable (finally!!!) American oak, chcocolate, maple syrup, coffee. Taste is along the same lines, very balanced with all adjuncts and BA being noticed. Whoa, this is an impressive progress done compared to its original release!!!
