Bottle in Brighstone, IOW. Clear amber beer, small cream colour head. Smooth palate, Smooth malts, a little creamy, a little unsweet caramel. The Fuggles and Golding's provide a decent ripeish orange, fairly juicy, a little cooling pine on the finish along with a mellow bitterness. Old school done very well.

Bottle at home – gift from my brother. Pours a golden amber with a small frothy off-white head. Malts and honey combine to give a pleasant aroma. Pretty much the same in the mouth, where the low carbonation is a bonus. Some nuts and caramel in the flavour too, and after a while bitter hops come through to dominate. Finish is dry and quite bitter. This is a really good strong bitter – lovely ! --- Beer merged from original tick of Duck's Folly on 03 Mar 2025 at 00:00 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 7.5 | Texture - 7 | Overall - 5.5. Original review text: Cask at Picture House, Stafford. Pours a dark copper with a small scummy cream head and good lacing. Has a rather muted aroma of traditional hops and spices. In the mouth there is a brief initial burst of sweetness before bitterness come to dominate. Flavour has traditional hops, marmite and spices pls hnts of ginger. Finish is somewhat dry. This is reasonable though not particularly memorable !

This is a solid, decent best bitter. Pours a clear chestnut/amber, with a bubbly off-white head and a sweet malt aroma. There’s an initial kick of spicy bitterness followed by a smooth fruit malt taste with some mild hop bitterness. IoW tick!!!
