13/I/13 - 33cl bottle from Erasmus Hotel, back in the days when it was still a beery place @ Klaas' place - BB: VI/2000 - bottled: VI/98 (2013-20) Huge thanks to Klaas for sharing the bottle!

Clear orange beer, irregular unstable yellowish head, bit adhesive, some sediment floating around in the glass. Still an amazing head after almost 15 years! Aroma: sweet and sugary, honey, dry sherry, orange peel, candied orange peel, marzipan, spices, madeira. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bit sourish, orange peel, sugary touch, little vinegar, sour apples, pretty fruity. Aftertaste: honey, little bitter, citric acidity, orange peel, alcohol noticeable. It is very clear from this beer that Kris uses a cooling ship to cool the wort. After all those years the wild yeast and bacteria make the beer more sour than at first, which makes the beer preserve better. Very nice beer if you like both sours and aged beers!

Bottle at Hotel Erasmus, Brugge 02.10.10 Hazy amber appearance with a slim white head. The aroma is quite weird but likeable, I get mouldering fruit, you know like orange with a bit of white mould on em’ in the fruit basket, Loz get’s gravy granules, so an interesting combination. Flavour lean’s more towards the fruit element rather than the gravy side but its a bit sour, the alcohol showing towards the end. It’s fine but not as great as I was hoping, maybe it’s on the downward spiral, btw the beer menu said 1989 but the bottle said 1998. A8 A4 T6 P3 Ov14 3.5

My # 3400th rating. Shit. Thanks Rene for trading this. 1998 vintage. Pours clear amber with a small creamy white head. Nose is deep. Vinous, matured, dusty, oxidized, yeasty. But it also has a very fruity touch to it. Sherry, vinous and fruity. No doubt it is past its prime but its also obvious that this once was a world class beer. Just grateful for trying this. Thanks.

Dark golden with a small off-white head. Vineous aroma with spice and licorice. Somewhat oxidized. Sweet and vineous flavour with spicy and fruity notes, and the classic Dolle tartness

Bottle at Erasmus. Pours a clear brilliant copper. Aromas of apple and tobacco. Medium body with sharpish carbonation. Flavor is cognac, roasted malt and green apple. Finishes dry and oaky. Eventually there are raisin notes. It’s aging well.

Pours a dark, almost amber-golden color. The head is large and foamy and barely fades; plenty of visible carbonation. Aroma is strong and the age is present through a chocolate aroma. The aged-malty-chocolate is very cool. Some light cardboard in there as well but its still pretty light. The cardboard-chocolate is mixed with un-citric lemon. The medium body evaporated quickly on the tongue. This was a delightful aged experience but I don’t know if this will be good in 2-3 years.
33cL bottle, where else but Erasmus, in a wine glass on 5/20/08.

Sehr süer Geruch, etwas getreidig, leicht bitter. Aromatisch hopfig-malzig, cremig. 33cl bottle at Erasmus. Deep orange/gold with some haze, thin lasting beige head. Got a bit of must on the aroma. A bit of dust, but the lasting marmalade is lovely. Just a bit musty for me.

(Bottle 33 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Hazy, amber golden with a small, off-white head. Lightly tart, fruity nose. Medium body with lightly sweet caramel, sourish notes and a fusty edge. Very subdued bitterness. Great to finally get the chance to try this, but unfortunately the beer is way over the top. 120108
