To celebrate 20 years of brewing we crafted this limited edition Imperial Stout. This beer impresses from the first touch with it’s sheer complexity. Immensely viscous, yet smooth with a rich syrup mouthfeel. The aromas and flavours of rich coffee, chocolate and a light hop addition hit every sense and lead to a long warming finish where the flavours constantly develop. This is a beer which will develop for years in the bottle.

My birthday beer #1. Pours pitch black, topped with a thin coffee cream head. Intense chocolate aroma, both milk and dark one. Some sherry note, but very gentle. Initially malty sweetness, some quite sharp alcohol warmth, sherry, a bit of burn actually. Roastiness later on with some berry and cherry sweetness that lasts actually. Silky texture, a bit sticky, fuller body. Alcohol is not hidden at all.

From bottle at CBF Wien 2017, shared by Sebilinz.
Pitch black body, with a small, dense, coffee colored head.
Aroma of espresso, liquorice, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, dark fruits.
Tastes similar, a bit sweeter, with more fruits and subtle smoke.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes roasty, a bit bitter, warm, a bit sweet, a bit wooden, with liquorice, coffee, cocoa powder, some dark fruits.

Very nice. Lovely, dense nose, with lots of dark, robust, yet creamy notes. Taste is a bit sweeter, while also nice. Straight, classic example of the style, maybe not outstanding, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

375 ml bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Pitch black color. Brown head with reasonable retention. Aroma’s: roasty, red fruity, light sweet, light coffee. Retronasal it’s roasty, fruity, light rubber, a bit drop. Flavor is roasted, light sour, a bit charcoal. Medium bodied. Pretty easy drinking. Finish is hard roasted, bitter. The sourness is off imho, but it seems to become less sour as the glass gets emptier...
