courtesy of, and shared with Gnoff. yet another treat, thanks Gnoff! pours dark brown, thick off white-mocha like head. Aroma and taste, grainy giving the beer a thick palate, mid range with a hoppy,/floral presence, yeasty and an amazing honey like sugar, coupled with bombastic roasted malts, caramel and notes of chocolate.

Bottle at the RBJG. Big chocolate and berry aroma. Very smooth and mild in the mouth, but big flavor of chocolate, berries and other dark fruits. Very drinkable and amazingly balanced. Good stuff.

Dark brown with red glimts and a large beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, coffee and chocolate notes. Sweet flavour with dark overripe fruits, coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and liquerice. Amazing how powerfull this beer is considering its strenght.

Dark brown with a lasting light brown head. American hops dominate the aroma with pine and orange notes, while toffee and roast malt stays in the background. Dry roasted malt flavour with plenty hop flavours and lots of bitterness.

Bottled (thanks omhper!). Very deep brown, close to black, colour. Mediumsized brown creamy head, that leaves nice lace. Aroma is toffee, fudge, licorice and caramel malts along with slight notes of wood. Flavour is very much the same in a very pleasant balance. The wooden notes are stronger in flavour than aroma. Big licorice finish.

Bottle (RBESG 08): Deep amber coloured with a beige head; leather and liquorice in the dry malty nose, roasted grains in the background; full dry bitter flavour, quite light bodied; quite short dry bitter-malty and a bit chocolatey finish. Not too impressive.............

(6/29/08) Bottle sample at RBESG08 grand tasting in Plzen. Dark brown to black, not opaque, with a beige head. Aroma of nice roasted malt, big chocolate character, some coffee and light hoppiness. Sweet malty flavor with roastiness, some burnt notes and chocolate. Finishes with light hoppiness. Medium-bodied, a bit light for an Imperial Stout. A nice one.

(Bottle 50 cl) Hazy orangey brown with a dense, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and good aroma hops. Good solid body with a solid malt base of hard roasted malts and some fruity accents. Has a lightly malt bitter finish. 290608

On tap at Bishops Arms, Järntorget, Gothenburg. Served next to pitch black, with just a little dark brown hue. Looked clear, and had a small, dense tan head on top. Roasted and burnt nose with coffee, some burnt sourness, salty licorice and a piney note. It was dry in the mouth, but still a bit sweet, and full bodied. There were flavors of chocolate, burnt malt, some licorice and a nice resiny hoppy bitterness. The finish was long and smooth, with coffee-like bitterness. Really a true beauty and a worthy winner of a homebrewing contest. (080709)
