Three Sisters Scottish Ale (4.2% abv) is a dark, fruity, refreshing ale that proves a perennial favourite, and is named after the dramatic range of mountains in Glencoe.
Chocolate Malt helps to give this beer its very attractive dark ruby colour, as well as contributing to some of the toasty and liquorice flavours in the beer.
However, a very large charge of whole-flower hops balances the dark malt character with an abundance of hop fruit flavours. These include dried and fresh fruit flavours as well as some more citrus tones not normally found in such a dark beer.
There’s enough ‘going on’ in Three Sisters to keep even the most demanding real ale aficionado happy, whilst the very approachable fruit makes this a popular drink across the board.

Many thanks to Erzengel for sharing! A clear ruby brown beer with a mid-sized most good lasting beige head. Aroma of mild sweet red malt, dark malt, raisins. Taste of red malt, red fruits, raisins, caramel, medium bitterness.

500ml bottle from Wrekin Whiskies, Shrewsbury. Pours a deep chestnut amber, off-white head. Good caramel nose, nice soft nutty caramel character to taste with additional burnt brown sugar. Smooth, balanced, delicious Scottish Ale.

Many thanks to minutemat for this bottle. Malty caramel beginning. Fresh and mild, moderate bitter. Slightly caramelly sweetish, round and smooth, moderate bitter. Nice mild malty darker aftertaste. Nice dry caramelly finish.

0.5l bottle. Looks really good this with a fine big frothy lasting light beige head on top of a crystal clear deep amber almost bronze looking beer. It's light caramellish on the nose with clear tones of candied sugars. Some fruitiness also going on here, but the candied sugar dominates. Quite pleasant non extreme nose. Yeah, it tastes quite alright this. Easy to drink, that's for sure. It's not extreme in any directions, not that I was expecting it to be of course but it has lots of flavor. Both caramel and again, that candied sugar comes to mind. It's not roasted but it has a little roasted element as well. Grass and nuts before it ends with traces of chocolate wrapper and crystal malts. Yeah, it's not bad at all this. 11.04.2014

Bottle at Inverness Airport. It pours deep brown with a thick beige head. The nose is caramel, wood, old leather armchair, furnature polish and dried fruits. The taste is toasty, earth, wood, leather, caramel, decent bitterness and peppery notes. Well rounded and rather drinkable. Nice bitter.
