A refreshing amber coloured bitter with a light floral finish. The late addition of the Amarillo hop instils a distinct citrus flavour. First brewed in 2004, this multi-award winning beer is named after the canal boat lift operating in the 1900s at the Foxton Locks in Leicestershire.

Cask at GBBF 2016. Day 1. Pours clear gold with a frothy, off-white head. The nose holds pale bread, English yeast, light citrus fruits. Moderately sweet, with some doughy white bread, mellow citrus notes. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Decent balance in the finish - some lemony hops, more pale bread sugars. Not bad.

Sampled @ GBBF Day 2. Clear orange golden color, small white head. Smell and taste are both quite boring and actually not that good: malts, a bit buttery, malt bitter. Meh, don’t like it.

Bottle.Nose is biscuit, butterscotch, floral hops, slight fruitiness - quite affable. Taste is light caramel, biscuit, slight herbal hops, slight citrus in the short finish. I don’t understand why you would set up a micro brewery to make beer as bland and pointless as something from Green King. It’s not a terrible beer, it’s just a mediocre example of why parts of British brewing is in the doldrums.

Cask @ GBBF14. Smooth malty start. Not much deepness The mainpart has hints of grain, fresh, smooth. On the tongue stays a smooth malty ale character, not too deep but nice and easy to drink.
