Imagine a beautifully polished piece of Amber and, funnily enough, that is what you’ll get when you order a pint of Amber. Wafts of citrus fruit and spice will entice you to drink. The Cara malt and carefully selected hops in Amber create a balanced, slightly bitter flavour with those fruity, spicy aromas following through to the tastebuds. You might even detect a hint of ginger in there somewhere.

Cask at The Briar Rose, Birmingham. Pours a dark gold with nice white top. There is a light citrus, grain, grassy and mid-bitter finish. Smooth, medium body and soft carbonation. Not huge in flavour but there is a very nice session balance to this which is often underrated.

Cask at the White Swan, Solihull. Poured a clear medium amber, with a lasting frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is malt, light toffee. The flavour is moderate to light bitter and sweet, with a smooth, rich, yeasty, malt, light woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at Hogshead, Wolverhampton. Pours a golden amber with a small white head and good lacing. Malts and orn to the fore in the aroma. Barley sugar and caramel are the initial impressions in the mouth. Malts and a slight sharpness come afterwards, and there are also traces of summere fruits. Finish is slightly dry. This is OK – a good swiggable bitter.

Pours a clear golden amber colour with a small frothy white head that settled. The aroma is leafy hops and pale malts; a similar taste with some caramel and light fruit, moderately sweet and moderately bitter.
