With its unique citrus character, smooth drinkability, and distinctive hop character, Drifter Pale Ale is truly an original. Brewed with generous amounts of Summit hops, a variety known for their intense citrus flavors and aromas, Drifter has a taste unique to the Pale Ale category. True to style, the bittering hops are perceptible enough to give the beer a crisp, clean, quenching finish, yet also soft enough to keep the beer smooth and balanced.

There’s a lot of citrus being unleashed in Drifter Pale Ale, but that’s about all this beer has going for it. Seems to be designed for the newbie IPA fan, the modern citric hop-bum. There’s no real malts or bitterness to accompany the initial burst of lemon and grapefruit zest, and the fade is watery and immediately forgettable. (8/09)

Draft. Amber body with a frothy, off-white head. Light aroma and flavor. Hints of resin and grapefruit and cookie. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes Lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Flabby all around for an APA.

Draught at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco on April 22, 2011. Before the Amon Amarth show.Clear copper color, white head. Sweet, malty, hoppy, citrus taste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness. Sweet, fruity, hoppy scent. Pretty good stuff, though pretty expensive at this place.

Bottle. Poured a rich golden color with a medium sized head. Aroma was malty, with notes of caramel. Flavor is a mild caramel one, with touches of citrus, floral hops. Drinkable.

Pours deep amber into a shaker. Off-white head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Sour caramel and orange aromas. Crisp with front to back orange, caramel and hay. Lasting bitter pith finish.

Not bad, distinct citric hop aroma and flavor, crisp malts, semi-dry finish. Long lingering grapefruit bitterness at the finish. Refreshing pale ale. Also versatile with foods.

Hazy dark copper - copious citrus and apricot in the nose, with plenty of earthy, pine-like hops to go along with that quality - medium-bodied, tangy and quenching - malt base is semi-dry and crackery - bitterness is slightly astringent, but not too much so - a little peppery - hop flavor is moderately earthy - lightly acidic on the tail end - not bad, but not something I will revisit.

Pour is a dark brown with a small whtie head. Aroma is a nice hop and caramel malt mix. Flavor is more of the same, hops up front then comes a nice thick helping of caramel malt. Kinda differnt pale ale as this almost has a overpowring malt presence but I liked it more than i thought I would.

Draught at a Jet Rock Bar, PHL Airport. Amber with a thin cream head; aroma of citrus with a touch of pine resin; smooth fruity flavour with soem cherry and lots of caramel; the finish is somewhat lacking, light with some clean dry hops.

Bottle. Pours a pale gold with a medium white head. Light malt and earth/citrus hop aroma. Flavor begins with a restrained sweetness and then travels to a mildly bitter end. A nice, earthy character throughout. Medium body, super drinkable. I could do a bunch of these.
