At 4.0% alcohol by volume North Star is very black and very tasty with the traditional smooth porter palate of treacle, liquorice, toffee, chocolate and toast.

Facers North Star Porter Cask @ Cask, Manchester. A very dark clear red in colour with a thin creamy head. Quite smooth, with tasty smooth malts throughout its character, and hardly any roasted ones at all.

Cask at GBBF ’14, day 1, 12/08/14. Dark mahogany brown with a moderate beige covering. Nose is earthy cocoa, light roast, dark toffee, nut. Taste comprises marshmallows, light vanilla, roasty tones, cocoa rub. Medium bodied, mdoerate carbonation, semi drying close. Ok porter.

Cask at GBBF
Clear dark brown with a small beige head, some lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Flavors of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate

Cask at the 2014 GBBF. Dark caramel coloured pour with a small halo of tan head. Aroma is berry, choc, earthy slight mannure. Flavour is choc, berry, earthy nutty. Palate is thin watery. Low carbonation.

Sampled @ GBBF. Dark brown color with a red glare coming through, average sized beige head. Smell and taste malts, bitter, caramel, lightly toffee. Decent body and carbonation. Not bad.

GBBF Cask. Very dark brown beer, clear. Light softish palate, a little dry. Very light malt with a whisper of toast. Very light everything porter. Bit too much so.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 3/11/10. Near black with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of milk chocolate, dark fruit with a touch of sweetness. Flavour had more chocolate, slightly sour lactose and some roasted malt in the finish. Enjoyable.

Cask, handpump at The Mill Hotel, Chester, Cheshire, 25-04-10 Pours dark brown with off white head. milk chocolate dominates in both the nose and the mouth, there is a touch of slight tangy sour fruitiness, cocoa powder, yum, nice beer. A6 A4 F8 P4 Ov14 3.6

Cask @ GBBF 09, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear dark brown color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, coffee, vanilla notes. Flavor is moderate to light light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090804]
