This barrel aged version of our Saison Noire, infused with Belgian Callebaut chocolate and vanilla beans, breathes an exquisite aroma of chocolate. The palette burts with rich chocolate and oaky vanilla but still finishes dry and elegant.

Bottle thanks to hopdog. Poured a clear amber brown with a grayish brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a combination of light fruit and chocolate with underlying notes of slight funk, tart fruit and nuttiness. Flavor had an almond nuttiness that was joined by funk, tart fruits and a nice light chocolate note.

750mL sent to me by mj a while ago. Bottled on 2/15/2009 and consumed on 12/09/10, 19 months old. Pour is dirty murky brown with no head, just some bubbly lacing. Aroma is sour (a pickle-like sourness) brett and vinegar mix (not overly acetic). Its a dill-like tart and sour beer and not much else. Flavor is less acetic and a more soft sourness. I get no chocolate or vanilla or anything else intended by this beer. Its pretty drinkable for the beer, just one sided and messy in that category. In hindsight, mj got the better end of this trade enjoy those Saison Brett bottles.

750 ml bottle shared by beastifan2k. Pour is a hazed copper amber with an off white head. Aroma is dill, pickles, dill pickles and some general sour and an earthy dryness. Weird nose. Taste is funky sour up front, followed quick behind with malt tart sour cherry and mildly dry chocolate bean in the finish. Palate is medium, bright carbonation, lingering finish of sour and chocolate dries out the end. Kudos to the effort and experimentation - though they may have tried to do too much with this beer. Thanks Eugene.
