A brilliant, dry pale ale with an aggressive hop character balanced with a smooth finish. A bold beer best consumed with a stiff upper lip.

Bottle. Not a very good IPA. Gold color. Rather small head for an IPA. Taste not very hoppy. Aroma, bland.

Notes from May 2009 Heavy layer of sediment on the bottom, no BB date. Served into my Sly Fox paperweight. A pretty decent pour left the beer just a shakes worth of floaters in suspension. Syrupy, glazed yellow color. Twinge of dulled-out orange on the second, more heavy-handed pour. Thin, white comb-over froth. Smell first malty sweet, turning vine-y & earthy. Very ho-hum. Taste is white bread & a little too much malt at the start, then turning a touch salty & maybe metallic. Half way through a soapy bitterness starts to go at it, eventually becoming very leafy bittergreen that lingers through a drying, papery finish. Not very bitter, but... gasp, pretty balanced. Carbonation is middle/middle high, but the dryness plays a bigger, better part. Get those yeasties in there. It didn't start well, but halfway through it became a pretty decent IPA. This is probably really satisfying super fresh. :)

Bottle split at RBWG ’15 hotel lobby share on the final night, from a bottle shop in Asheville, 21/02/15. Golden with a decent light beige cap. Nose is pale malt, caramel, straw, orange. Taste comprises toasted bread, caramel, orange pith, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light hop bitterness. A rather pedestrian IPA which delivers little.

Bottle shared late night in the hotel lobby during RBWG 2015. Pours Clear gold with a foamy white head. The aroma holds some crackers pale malts, pine needles. Medium sweet flavor, some astringent hay, pale bread, pine needles. Medium bodied with average carbonation. More crackers malts to finish, old citrus. Ho Hum.

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking golden orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. Light lacing strung its way around the glass once the head dissipated.
The smell had a nice glaze of bittersweet orange and orange peel. A nice amount of lemon sweet and bitter lemon peel come in as well. Light caramel came in to balance.
The taste took those previously mentioned flavors and balanced nicely. A light caramel to sweet citrus balances in the aftertaste.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionable quality about it. The carbonation was there and as an AIPA this one definitely gives off it’s bitterness against my tongue.
Overall, pretty good AIPA that I would come back to if I could find it.

Bottle from Kroger. Pours light-medium golden with an inch of off-white head. Smells... whew. Skunk and cheap lager. Tastes the same... this is a hoppy, skunky lager. Yuck.

A golden IPA with a thick mocha head. In aroma, light caramel malt with floral hops, OK. In mouth, a good caramel malt with grassy British floral hops, light grapefruit pulp, decent.
