I drank a bunch of these beers. It looks like a nice brown ale and tastes and smells like a nice brown ale, but that is all. Good brown ale to chug, but not much good for anything else. Mostly just a gimmick brew.

Bottle, Alibi Room
Red-accented brown. Fruity nose - raspberry and some chocolate notes. Thin body, light fruitiness and insipid coffee. Not exactly my kind of beer.

It’s brown all right. Blackish with a big rocky head. Sweet medicine aroma. Coffee, chocolate and old wet half burned campfire coals that were put out last week. Yes, is a big beer for a brown ale, comes across much stronger than the 5.5% listed here would indicate. A little too much for my lager loven taste buds. Nice to try.

Dark brown with a thin, brown head. burnt brown sugar, malts, molasses, some smoke and nuts. Medium body. The flavor is full of roasted malts, with the molasses, brown sugar, and citrus hops rounding out this brown. Solid and easy to drink. Wouldn’t search this one out, but wouldn’t turn it down, either.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of fiulijn. Hazy, dark brown with a tint of orange and a small, off-white head. Burned and lightly smoked aroma with some nuttiness. Medium body with lightly sweet and burned malt accents and a whiff of nuts. The finish is dry with a subdued bitterness. 170108

As He’Brew Messiah Bold
Dark mahogany color. Aroma of caramel, roasted nuts, wet soil. The mouthfeel is quite dry, with a strong dark caramel taste and some roasted and chocolate malt. Bitter but without hop quality. Unimpressive.

Re-rate 6/10/13: Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks Tom L. Roastiness, chocolate, nuts, caramel, some herbal hops. Bittersweet, finishes bitter. Decent. 7/3/6/3/13=3.2

Re-rate 2/13: Bottle. Beer Of The Month Club. Dark brown with a medium beige head. Nutty malty aroma with light toastiness/roastiness, some caramel, notes of chocolate and a light fruity hint. Sweetish malty and nutty flavor, slightly roasty, with a dry finish with mild hoppy bitterness. Medium-bodied. A good easy-drinking Brown Ale. 7/3/7/3/14=3.4

Bottle. Pour is a dark brown with a smallish head that dies out quickly. Aromas are sweet... brown sugar with a touch of dried fruit. Flavor is heavily reliant on roasted malt with a touch of coffee and nut notes. Not really interesting, but not horrible, by any stretch of the imagination.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small tan head. The aroma was sweet, malty and had a bock like element. The flavor was dry, bitter, roasty and a bit smoky. The finish was long and dry. Everything I generally dislike in a brown ale.

12oz bottle-pours a foamy to rocky tan head and mahogany color. Aroma is sweet medium malt-dark fruit. Taste is dark malt-peat/smoky/sweet, dark fruit, some hops bite. Medium body. OK/mild carbonation. Nice.
