From Apr 2008

I got this at LiquorMax in Ft Collins, Co.

This pours a clear very bright amber gold(2008) with a 2 finger head of foam. Very good head retention and some very nice lacing.

The smell is of floral hops with a big dose of grapefruit, some fruit, and some sweet malt hiding in the background.

The taste has the grapefruit right up front with some bready notes and some caramel malt sitting on the side and giving some balance and actually ends up dominating the finish. There's also quite a bit of fruitiness to this DIPA that adds both bitterness and sweetness to the overall flavour. Mighty nice this one. Pretty darned easy drinking as well. With this one, the taste is much better than the smell would indicate.

It has a medium to medium light mouthfeel and the carbonation is fairly lightly done. Another very nice, very tasty, very drinkable brew from Full Sail. Imagine that!

Cost: US$3.41 What a bargain!!

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear orange copper with creamy off white head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is dank and tropical fruit. Medium mouth, juicy hop, dank, lingering resin finish, very good.

Bottle from Winco. Dark golden body with small creamy off white head. Malt features prominently in aroma, and provides a nice platform for the citrusy hops in the taste. Funky, tart bitterness hits the taste buds and lingers through to the finish. Not a huge IIPA, but has a nice kick.

22 oz. bottle, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out some sharp piney hops, some stone fruits and biscuity malt. Flavour is similar and quite sharp, with piney hops, biscuity malt and a touch of fruitiness. Fairly dry, astringent and somewhat metallic on the finish. Not the cleanest and well-crafted, but it works.

Hazy amber color; medium sized creamy head. Nice malt and hop aroma, balanced. Caramel flavor, and malt, strong and quite sweet, with toffee and an impression of liquorice; strong bitterness; now the hop carries evident resins. The final is powerful yet balanced. Maybe it lost in hop freshness, but there is good balance in this (bold) brew.
Unfortunately, another bottle that I spoiled, keeping it too long (since Oct ’09), waiting to share it...

Cloudy golden with a medium sized off white head. Aroma had tangerine, grapefruits, hops and peach. Flavor was very dry with plenty of hops that gave notes of tangerine, peach, grapefruit, pine and lemons. finished bone dry and very bitter. I liked it for it’s very exotic fruitiness and cause it was dry and bitter. Nice one.

Shipped to me my wife from a trip to Portland. Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured an orange-amber color with a small orange-white head that produced good lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy pine and grapefruit. The flavor was bitter and tart with moderate notes of pine, grapefruit and lemon and light sour nutty malts and caramel. The finish was long, tangy, tart and hoppy. Fairly full bodied. Nice.

Full Sail tasting at Enoteca in Post Falls, Idaho. 4 oz sample from bomber poured into shaker. Tangy pot, gym locker aroma. Funky, yet really good, paradoxically. Pours golden with a medium dissipating head and nice lacework. Flavor is tangy, bready, hoppy, grapefruit. Medium-low carbonation. Nicely balanced. I dig the funkiness of it, but other than that, it’s just average.
