Bottle shared in London during Scopey’s 10k tasting - thanks to Scopey. Pours oily black with a bubbly brown head. Lots of scorched wood in the aroma, dark fruits, baking cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with ashy roast, dry wood, bitter dark chocolate, old leathery berries, raisins. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish with more charcoal, bitter cocoa, scorched earth, dried berries. Great depth. Has aged nicely.

Bottle shared at my 10K tasting. It pours darkest brown with pretty much no head. The nose is rich, oily, umami, vinous, jammy berry, rich red wine, vanilla, sweet wood, toasted coconut and light oxidised notes. The taste is rich, oily, charred wood, tarmac, chewy, salted liquorice, wood, vinous, tannins, burnt toast, dark chocolate, drying, mild astringency and umami with a rich, toasty finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Rich, good depth and just rather drinkable.

Bottle split at Scopey 10K, thanks to Bropey, 26/11/15. Black with tan spotting that soon dissipates to thin edgeing. Nose is rich dark fruit, light spice, toffee, chocolate, light charr, mellow wine barrel, fruit cake, red berry linger. Taste comprises rich roasted tones, fruit cake, chocolate, toffee fudge, dates, raisens, spice, mellow barrel, light black pepper trace. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a touch of booze. Solid impy, has held up well.

Opaque black beer. Short chocolate coloured head. Soft palate, fairly dry. Rich dark malt. Dark unsweet chocolate and coffee. Undertone of plummy fruits, minerals and spice. The red wine is subtle and somewhat out muscled by the Impy Stout characteristics. Gets a little more winey as it warms up. Hangs together pretty well.

0.375l bottle from 2009 @ Mikkeller Bar. The last beer this time unfortunately.. Anyhow, the pour on this one is a black as I've ever seen. Besides Mikkeller's Geroge and Struise - Double black, this is the deepest blackest beer I've ever seen, and it has a tiny chocolate head that's almost not worth mentioning since it fades extremely quickly. The aroma is also deep deep dark, roasted, has a nice perfect sweetness, lots of barrel and vanilla tones, dark rich berries, burned toast and some extreme dark chocolate. Amazing.. Fantastic rich and chewy texture in this one as well, just the way I like it. Rich, thick and so satisfying. Daaark and roasted flavors, molasses up to your knees, tons of Belgian dark chocolate, a chili-like burning twitch in the finish that just makes everything even more interesting. Warming with a vanilla-oaky-coconut-dark fruity aftertaste that's just lasting forever! So good this one, I would have no problems drinking this all day long. Sip sip - I'm in love! 08.01.2012
