Brewed with Luke Nicholas, brewer of New Zealand’s Supreme Champion Beer, Epic Pale Ale, this version of Halcyon is all about the hops. We increased the bitterness to over 100 IBU (International Bitterness Units) & added a ridiculous amount of hops at dry hopping. All these hops give masses of fruit characters, gooseberry, pineapple, guava, peach & more. Finishes with a long intense bitterness & balanced malt sweetness.

Cask at University Arms, Sheffield, RBESG 09. Massive thanks to Alex Buchanan from Thornbridge for supplying this beer in the pub. Flowery aroma, more flowery hop than the regular version. Then really piney resiny after with great hot hops on the end. So resiny it’s untrure

Cask, gravity at Merton Summer Beer and Cider Festival, 17-07-09 Pours amber with quite a haziness, in fact the look of this beer was it’s only real weak spot, there was a small white head that swiftly departed. Aroma is big on tropical fruits but also a goodly dash of citrus thrown in for good measure. Tastes great, bags of grapefruit zipping around along with some softer fruits like peach and apricot, which you start to notice once your tongue recovers from the rasping workout that the bitterness gives it. I had a small ones of these over the weekend and it was up there with my favourite beers of the weekend but not quite taking the top spot. A8 A2 F8 P4 Ov16 3.8
