0,33 l bottle, pours out clear golden, one finger head. Little bit grainy, maybe corn on the nose. Thin taste, grainy sweetness on a low level. Cardboard aftertaste. Typical contract brew in negative way.

Brewed for ’New Allied African Brewery’ (I think): not to be confused with the stronger 8.5 Palm based brew they also produce at Huyghe. International Green Week, Berlin 2012: Hall 18 is a real mix of nations (Gambia, Ghana, South Africa, Spain, Peru, Malta, Thailand, Belgium and Holland to name but some), after my Slovenian Pilsner we moved on to an African bar and had a 33cl bottle of this poured into hardened Mango shell. Difficult to gauge the colour, but it seemed a slightly hazy gold in appearance with next to no head at all. The smell was of alcohol esters and sweet wood, some herbs and spices too. Weird taste, not sure what palm oil tastes like but this had a distinct flavour that I found hard to recognise, not really unpleasant, but not the sort of beer to have crates of at home either. I’ll put this down to experience: I’ve had another Dju Dju beers out of the same vessels over the years at previous Green Weeks, but never bothered to take notes before.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Hazy golden with thick floating impurities and a creamy white head. Medium body with strange notes of fennel and some yeast. Raw and bitter finish. Not pleasant. 200309

Bottle, from trade with Papsoe. A brown, slightly hazy beer with lots of (protein?) chunks, topped by a small, beige, creamy head. Spiced nose with dried fruits, cellar, rum-raisin, some notes of oxidation and alcohol, and a herbal touch. Sweet, herbal flavor with cellar, raisin, green apples, some spicy notes and a fine bitterness. Quite thin on the body, medium that is, and with a warming feeling. Dried fruits and a herbal bitterness in the finish. Maybe a bit herbal, but a quite nice one. Would like less chunks though. (090228)

Bottle, 8.5%. Sweet cardboard aroma. Hazy yellow colour with some floating yeast bits. Very small white head. Vinous and bready aroma, tastes old. Some pepper and lots of rotten fruit. Harsh alcohol bitterness in the finish.
