Made for a Ghent sports club after a recipe developed by the guy who invented the Braven Apostel beers. Creamy, light beige, moussy head, brownish bronze colour. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, liqueur, plum, sour cream, iron and - alas - some DMS (cabbage). Yeasty, dry fruity taste with sourish wheat, bit metallic too, dry and lightly roasted finish, bitterish and not well-balanced - and retronasally there’s the DMS again. What a weird beer to celebrate an anniversary with... Apparently conceived as a dark wheat beer, so perhaps it should be considered classifying this as a Dunkelweizen (of some sort)?

33cl bottle from Geers, BB 17/06/2013.

6/V/2012 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - BB: 17/VI/13 (2012-470)

Clear dark red brown beer, nice big creamy beige head, pretty stable, adhesive. Aroma: sweet caramel, cookies, pretty hoppy, herbal notes, mocha, dark chocolate, red fruits. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: little sour start, red berries, caramel, quite a lot of mocha, dried fruits. Aftertaste: mocha, little sour, spiced, milk chocolate, some caramel. Could it be the wheat malt that provides this sourness? It's not too bad, especially given the pretty low ABV!
