On tap @ the Bow Bar Winter beer festival. Appearance - golden with a nicely proportioned head. Nose - confectionery, maybe dried fruits. Parma violets. Taste - more dried fruit. Palate - medium bodied with a big creamy texture and a tangy but slightly too sweet finish. Overall - it’s tasty but it doesn’t make me want to have another. Perhaps adding blackberries to a darker stronger beer is more usual and more appropriate.

Cast at the Grape and Grain, Crystal Palace. Dark reddish-brown pour with a white head. Caramel, blackberry and raisin aroma. Malt laden flavour with a spot of licorice and light blackberry notes. Not bad.

Cask at CP&K. It pours clear amber with a small off-white head. The nose is soft fruitiness, berry, raspberry ice-cream and fruit syrup. The taste is straw, bitter pine, light berry, Ribena, pepper and some citrus with a dry, bitter finish. Fruit is well-integrated and not over-done. Nice fruitiness, decent bitterness and easy drinking.

Dunkel malziger und trockener Antrunk. Zwischenzeitlich angenehm hopfig, wenig bittet, war sich zum Ende noch leicht steigert. Zum Ende sticht der Hopfen hervor, würzig, trocken. 12/10/12/12//11

[Cask at Chippenham BF] Murky pale amber. The brewer attempts to cover up a pretty average underlying bitter with raspberry leaves and late-arriving blackberries. It’s on the sweet side, a little cardboardy and pretty uninspiring. Not impressed. c5

Thanks to JohnRMurdoch for a half of this one, cask at The Three Judges. Copper coloured, fading white head. Aroma of berries mixed with wheat-like fruits. Blackberries, alright, joined by a fruity touch in flavour followed by a bittersweet support. Different and quite alright to drink (Glasgow, 12.04.2012).
