Cask handpump at The Bell, Banbury, Oxon, 22-03-10 Banbury Beer Festival Meeting. Pours mid gold, the clarity is excellent and despite being on for 3-4 days its held up very well. The aroma is a little subdued and I would have imagined that the NZ hops would have offered more but as mentioned this is understandable for a beer slightly past its prime. The flavour is sublime ok so its maybe not as crisp as it was a day or two ago but the tropical fruits and also grapefruit noted were still there and then there is a lovely bittersweet flurry, still excellent but had I have had it when Glen did then I’m sure we would have been talking another 4+ score. A British Golden ale that delivers more than average. Crystal clear golden appearance. Shinning surface. Appealing tropical fruit to the nose. Herbal, dusty hops in flavour and a touch of honey sweetness. Rounded bitter ending. Everything in fine harmony. Medium to thin bodied. Has got great session potentials (Cask, GBBF 05.08.2009).
