Bottle at the Croydonia Tasting - East Croydon. Vintage c. 2009 (has a BBF December 2010); I got it from Kris Wines. Pours clearish amber with a creamy, tan head. Nose of dry bread, dried fruits, toast and dirt. Medium sweet flavor with further dry bready malt character, light booze, ripe fruits. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Ripe fruits in the finish, bread, toffee. Good stuff. Has aged nicely.

Vintage bottle (BBFDec 2010), thanks to Leighton. It pours cloud deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is light roast, toast, toffee, fudge, earth, caramel and stewed fruit. The taste s toasty, earth, wood, decent bitterness, caramel, date, prune, brown sugar, vinous aspect and some alcohol warmth. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Pretty flavoursome and well-integrated. Has aged rather gracefully.

Cloudy dark brown beer. Short off white foamy head. Toffee and fresh orange and peach in the aroma. Semi soft and dry palate. Sweet toffee, wet wood and herbal bitterness, licorice too. Much like the India Pale Ale there are too many weird flavours going on here. Wondering if I have had a dodgy batch.

Deep brown, clear body. Lightly brown head. Aroma of american hops and malts. Heavily bitter, moderately sweet flavour - strong on the hops. Nice.

Bottle at Chris O’s ‘Raise the roof’ tasting. Cloudy light-brown pour. Meaty, earthy aromas with a hint of herbs and some light spices. Toffee, caramel and citrus flavours. Totally belies the nose. Very smooth. Malt laden finish with a slight bitterness. Different.

Courtesy of madmitch76, thanks Ken. Pours hazy amber brown with copper edges and off white head. The aroma is a bit boozy with a modest level of dark fruitiness and a touch of caramel. The taste is similar with sort of a rough start for a barleywine of this modest strength with thin fading dark fruitiness and a thin layer of sweet maltiness.
