Brewed in the style of a classic India Pale Ale, this intensely hopped ale is a hymn to the virtues of the exclusive Kentish Cobb hop. We add the hops at four different stages of brewing to develop the full spectrum of their taste.
The magnificent Cobb rewards with a gentle bitterness and aromatics of depth and distinction. Married with Maris Otter barley from Suffolk this is a majestic ale to enjoy on occasions that call for the very best.

Bottle from Waitrose, Wallingford, Oxon, 15th November 2011 consumed at home 16th November 2011 (my birthday) Bit of a come down after the Kernel beers that I’ve just had, however it’s ok. Not as intensely hoppy as the description suggests. Some bitterness but mixed with a slight muddling sweetness. Ok. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

33cl bottle from Chapel Down Winery, Tenterden. Gold with a fast fading white head; fresh, delicate spicy hop aromas; rich a nd syrupy in the mouth without being sweet, some good chewy malts, spicy hops and some warming dry alcohol. Excellent.

Bottle at home ... Rich amber ... sweet orangy little hop nose ... little fizz ... fruity orangy medicinal tones ... quite rich ... bitter hop linger... seems unbalanced.

Bottle, 5.6%. Citric hop aroma. Almost clear copper colour. Big stable head. The flavour starts caramelly with a little aromatic hoppiness, and turns bitter in an OK dry way. Nicely balanced.

[Bottle] Amber, somewhat unclear color. Dense head. Aroma is fruit, toffee and a little bit of liquorice. Flavour is more toffee followed by a nice hoppy bitterness.

Bottled. Amber colour, large but brief head. Perfumy hop aroma with notes of peach and melon. Medium sweet with clean mouthfeel and medium body. Light caramelly malt backs the wealth of unsual perfumy hops. Dusty finish with powerful bitterness. A damn fine English IPA!

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a beautiful, clear amber with a nice, off-white head. Fresh and lightly floral aroma. Medium body with a slightly sweet malt character quickly balanced by a distinct bitterness. Ends very dry. Very decent. 150906

(33 cl bottle at Haket, Gothenburg) Shady golden honey color, tan head. Fresh, but with some boiled vegetables, scent. Ratehr high bitterness. Medium mouth feel. Rather boring and easily forgotten. Perhaps I’m just Americanized regarding my taste of I.P.A.?
