Dark brown with a thin, frothy head. Toffee and cherry aroma .. a bit syrupy. Taste is sweet and mildly cloying with toasted bitter undertones. Medium bodied, mild carbonation. Too rough and rudimentary to be a good example of the style. Drinkable.

341ml bottle in the lcbo st ambroise discovery pack. Sweet bready caramel malts. Light alcohol notes, light bitterness, very sweet finish with a lingering. Sweet vegetal after taste. Pretty mediocre scotch ale.

341ml bottle in a nifty cardboard sleeve.
aroma is sweet, and quite malty, but has some decen hops also. Flavour is very well balanced between the sweet malt and the hops. Finish is again, nice and malty. its a decent beer, nothing to rave about, just a good solid effort.

473ml can. Pours a clear dark amber-red with a medium, foamy, short lived, beige head that laces. Sweet aroma of toasted caramel malt, butterscotch, cherry, prune and light chocolate. Sweet flavour of toasted caramel malt, cherry, prune and licorice in a dry, mild bitter, warming booze finish. Medium body with a sticky, oily texture and average carbonation. Malt forward and flavourful.

On tap at McKibbins in the West Island. Pouring a pretty mahogany brown with a peppery dark malt aroma. Balanced caramel and lightly bitter flavor made for a decent sipper.

A well made beer, clean and mild scotch flavour. A good introduction to the masses for a scotch ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bouteille 341ml (2005).
