A famous brewer once said, "The true test of a Bock is that a drinker should not know the beer's strength until he stands up." This taste Bock passes that test, drinker beware. Roasted malts create a reddish black color and flavorful hints of fig and raisin. A long lagering (cold storage) process provides a velvety smooth finish. A holiday favourite.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is a mix of sugar and loads of dark fruit. Lots of plumbs and figs. Flavor is pure raison juice with a bit of treacle and toffee. This was such a dark fruit forward beer. One of the best dopple bocks I’ve had in a long time. This beer leaves so much raison on the tongue you may think you are eating a box of sun-maids.

Pours dark brown with a transient light tan head. Aroma is dark, slightly roasty, malt with maybe some grassy hop hints. Med body. Flavor is malty, perhaps with some earthy hop. It finishes far from bitter. Decent.

Aroma of dark musty red fruits and roasted malt. Very dark brown color (beautiful ruby under strong light) with a good tan head. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is darkly roasted malt with notes of chocolate, possibly coffee, but not much fruit (none?). The finish approaches dry, and there is a decent amount of bitterness. Good winter brew.

12oz bottle pours mahogany with thin light colored mocha head. The aroma offers up brown sugar covered prunes and blueberries mixing with some earthiness and just a hint of molasses. The taste is nice with mild dark roasted malts rolling quickly into toffee, dark toasted bread, sweet ripe plums and cherries. This comes together very nicely as I love the play between the sweet dark fruity esters, mild roasted maltiness and the kettle caramelization toffee like notes. Dandy Dobbel Bock in my book.
