12 oz. bottle, pours dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma of toasted malts, nuts and a little caramel sweetness. Flavour is quite light, with nuts, toasted malts and some sweetness - sort of a muted, metallic finish. Decent but nothing special.

Bottled. A hazy red beer with a nice tan head. The aroma has notes of malt as well as lighter notes of toffee and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, toffee, hops, and nuts, leading to a dry nutty finish.

Clear deep brown coloured body with a thin brown body and tons of small bubbles rising from the bottom and sides of the glass. Aroma of raisins, malt, alcohol, peat and yes - nuts. Medium-bodied; Light taste with malt and raisins most noticeable, some sweetness but mostly bland. Aftertaste is clean and short - not the typical nut brown at all. Overall, bland and unimpresive. Even for people who DO enjoy the style, this is passable. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Grape & Gourmet in Virginia Beach, VA on 12 September 2007.

Bottle. Very weak vinous aroma. Hazy brown colour. The flavour is OK roasted, has a little lactic citric note in the finish. Hint of roasted yeast?

Bottle. Pour is a translucent brown with a bit of a head that almost has a green edge to it... maybe it’s time for bed(?) Aromas are week but decent... nuts and brown sugar. Flavor is a lovely mix of sweet malt in the form of brown sugar and toffee with some nutty side notes and then back to sweetness for the finish.

Sample at Alan’s HSC initation. Bottle from Howard’s Market in Tehachapi, CA. Pours a brownish-amber color with a thin light tan head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Toasted malt and nut aroma with a bit of hops. Medium, smooth body with flavors of nuts and caramel malt, plus a touch of hops and chocolate. The finish is nutty with a mild hops and semi-sweet chocolate aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
