Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Tweety. Pours a clear reddish brown with a lively off-white head leaving laces. Sweet Bourbon and oaky accents in the nose. Medium body, fairly lively carbonation, vanilla and roasted malts with some oak and a vague underlying tartness. No real bitterness. 230410

Bottle #05 I would guess the 5th Anniversary. Pours out a dark brown almost black with a nice head. Aroma was of light vanilla and bourbon along with some rich malts. Taste much more of the barrel. All of the bourbon, malts, and vanilla.

Bottle. Deep brown, approaching opaque black, body with a tan head, mostly diminishing. Strong bourbon aroma and taste that mutes much of what else is in this beer β hints of roasted malts, sweet caramel, vanilla and oak. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. The taste of bourbon and alcohol dominate, but the notes of caramel and roast leave a slight earthy taste in the finish. The velvety/oily texture turns watery in the finish. Medium body with very light carbonation. Nice beer to sip on, but like so many bourbon-barrel beers, itβs more about the bourbon than the beer.

Bottle: Medium depth brown with a modest tan head. Aroma is up front with bourbon and backed by roasty malt and chocolate. Flavor is sweet with bourbon, chocolate, roast, and little hints of vanilla. Very smooth and well balanced. Just a bit thin on the palate.

Red-tinged medium brown colour. Light brown sugar nose with hazelnuts and pecan. Very sweet brew with a high vanilla quotient, some background dark malts and a bit of a boozy finish.

Bottle labeled as Bourbon Barrel Porter, No. 2. Rich dark fruit aroma. Sort of vinous/whisky and vanilla notes as well. Pretty black color with a decent tan head. Full bodied with creamy, mild carbonation. Definitely vanilla, some heat, a Jack Daniels kind of impression, smooth roasted/toasted caramel. Itβs really something. The finish is actually kind of dry, with a little heat, and still some vanilla. Have no idea what happened to the dark fruits!

Bomber from BrewDad! Nose of bourbon, caramel, vanilla, and chocolate; murky brown with a medium tan head; flavor is light bourbon, caramel malt, and chocolate! Pretty decent! Finish is very light alcohol, could use a little more body!

I enjoyed this because while the bourbon is there, it doesnβt overwhelm the beer. The aroma has oak and bourbon as well as some malt. Flavor has sweet malt, light fruit, vanilla, and moderate, but not overwhelming bourbon. It would probably be better with no bourbon at all.
