On tap @ the Stockbridge Tap. This version really lifts this beer which is really one of Highland’s more austere normally. The balance of zingy hops and malt sweetness is spot on.

On tap @ Cloisters Highland Tap takeover. Pours a chestnut red with a well proportioned head. The nose is quite pungent with resin, caraway seeds and apples. The taste is more resin and apples. The palate is medium bodied with a thick texture but this lacks the refreshment of the other Highland beers. Overall, this was better in bottle I think - maybe needs to be kegged?

Cask at Guildford Arms, Edinburgh. It pours clear amber-brown with a medium white head. The nose is earth, wood, brown bread, light toast and leather. The taste is wood, leather, decent bitterness, peppery, caramel and dried fruit with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Good balance and nice bitterness. Decent.

Cask (SRAF 2013) - Amber in colour. Sultanas and apricot in the aroma. Fruity and moderately hoppy taste with notes of peach, sultanas and toffee.

Cask at the Lyric, Soho, 02/05/13. Lightly hazed golden amber with an off white head. Nose is pretty thin, malt, light toffee, grain. Taste comprises dark malt, sugar, biscuit, toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, smooth on the palate, light bitterness in the finish. Drinkable fayre but doesn’t really deliver much!

Cask @ Nairn Beer Festival 2012
Golden amber, clear, frothy white head, bit of lacing.
Aroma of caramel malt, light berry fruits
Taste - caramel malts, some toffee, slight biscuit, light honey, background of light bitter hops, mellow
Palate - soft carb, medium body, sweet, smooth soft mouthfeel. Finish of sweet biscuity toffee
Overall - nice mellow beer, quaffable at 5.2% abv, but not one of their best beers

Cask at The Bree Louise, London. Pours clear gold with a few bubbles for the head. Tropical fruit nose, some citrus, faint pine. Great flavor, with pineapple, melon, mild overall bitterness, some lightly toasted bread and sugar. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. Mild sticky finish, some watermelon, faint grapefruit, pineapple, and lots of mango. A very nice beer. Pleasant surprise at The Bree Louise!

Pigs Ear. Clear amber beer, no head. Mildly crisp. A bit dry but nice fresh orange hop. Hint of aniseed. Not bad - pretty drinkable. ’World Class’ is definitely a stretch though!!
