500 ml bottle. Amber body with a small tan head. Aroma has light caramel malt, wood and cellar notes. Flavor has sweet malt, low bitterness, hint of caramel and feels flat and dead. Quite plain and boring with a slightly unpleasant aftertaste.

Bottle. It pours a clear, brown body under a small, dense, off-white head. The aroma has caramel and a roasted touch, dried fruits and some generic fruityness. Some cellar too. Very thin and watery on the palate, quite dry, and low on carbonation. Roasted malts and caramel, some dried fruits and a faint bitterness. Roasted, caramel finish. Not a very pleasant one, and way, way too thin. 121110

0.5l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. This is a clear dark woody-brown one with a small bubbly beige head. The aroma at first reminds me of a old cellar with strong cardboard, chlorine and old flower-water. Not fantastic. It get's a bit better when you get used to it though, but this did not smell good. It tasted a bit better. Some dark malts, burned tones, hints of both chocolate and earth. Tasted a lot better than it smelled, but not a great one this either from the Strathaven. 16.06.2012

500ml bottle purchased at Centra Colosseum in Oslo a few months ago. Shared with Finn at a rating session. Nice to look at with an airy, beige head covering a brown-red tinted body. Fragile glass-lacing. Smell of basement and roasted malts. The taste profile is rather out of tune with spiced malts and some kind of acetic leather. Dark bitter ending. Unusual, possible to drink, but I won’t buy it again (Tromsø, 11.09.2012).

Flaske 0,5l.
