Draught at EsBF09. Sweet and roasted aroma, hint of salty liquorice. Black colour, no head. The flavour is powerful, sweet with a distinct roasted note, alcoholic. Sweet and salty with a little grassy hop flavour. Rough, but very good.

On tap. Pours an opaque black with no head. Intense aroma of dried fruit hard roasted malt and alcohol. Very full-bodied, a little flat with sweet hard roasted malts, a little wood and vanilla, again dried fruit and a warming alcohol finish. Please make more of this! 221009

Opaqu black with a small tan head. Big aroma of licorice and dark chocolate, with some alcohol. Sweet roasted flavour with lots of licorice. The warming alcohol combined with the sweetness might get cloying after a little while, but the first sips are outstanding

At the Ølfestival, Esbjerg, Denmark 22-10-09. Pours shark eye black in colour with a head that disappeared so quickly I never noted the colour, it was probably sucked down into the dark murky depths of this brew. Very thick in the mouth, immensely flavoursome, the alcohol is noticeable but never gets in the way, smooth, seductive and warming and the perfect fireside tipple. The wheat softens the roasty bitterness well and whilst the coffee bitterness who along with a goodly dash of hops it really is a perfect marriage of sweetness, bitterness, roastiness and overall loveliness. My favourite beer of the festival, great stuff. A8 A4 F9 P4 Ov17 4.2
