This sensory getaway transports you to a corner bodega with our friends at Funky Buddha in South Florida to recreate the flavors you’d find in a Cuban guava pastry. Championing the big, bold flavors that both of our breweries are known for, we brewed an imperial cream ale, adding lactose and vanilla to impart sweet, custard-like ribbons, and guava for filling its conceptual authenticity. It’s a collaboration that’s equal parts inspiration and admiration.

750mL bottle shared by Adam or Chris on 12/9/17.
Mostly clear, apricot-marmalade color with beige and bronze hues. Off-white head atop is initially large and falls to cover slowly.
Nicely soft, vanilla and guava are surprisingly well-matched in the nose. It's highly aromatic and importantly, both smell authentic/real. Nothing cheap or sugary. Malts behind it add honey, biscuit, graham cracker and easily balance. Doesn't have that awful, milky, musty character that some lactose beers have. No alcohol noted, either.
In the mouth it's a perfect vanilla ice cream with guava drizzle. Lightly sweet, though with good attenuation on the malt and not too intensely lactose-driven. One of the best vanilla and lactose treatments I've had, honestly. Ultra soft, creamy, pillowy with fine carbonation and no alcohol or flaw. Guava character adds light acidity, brightness and lingering tropical fruit flavor.

Sampled from bottle at Gekke Geit bottleshare. Murky golden with white head. Massive fruity and pulpy and juicy guave. Big sweet and light bitter. Over medium body and soft carbonation. This is crazy.
