Bottled. A chestnut colored beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, berries, wood, and brettanomyces. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, wood, and berries as well as lighter notes of brettanomyces, leading to lightly dry and woody finish.

5th December 2008.
Cask at Pigs Ear. Very dark brown beer. Smells winey. Very full of flavour, full of hops but quickly bittering with it. Has a lot of stout like dryness and roastyness. Okay but not a patch on the previous 2 Mares!

Bottle. Very dark brown beer, good cream coloured head. Crisp with good carbonation. Sourish malt with some pretty bitter hops coming through in the semi dry finish. Long aggressive bitter linger. An odd beer - quite palatable but then the very aggressive hops kicks in!

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Clear orangey brown with a dense beige head. Tart aroma, some metal and horse blanket. Medium body, dried fruit. other fruits, astringently sour and lactic with a solid bitterness. Almost Jolly Pumpkinish, but the 13,8% is hard to believe. 270609

50 cL bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a small off-white head. Fruity, sourish and cherry like aroma. Dry, caramelish and fruity sourish flavoured. Like a very malty flemish red. Light milky touch. Fruity and slight milky finish.

Bottled. Small ambery brown colour with beige creamy head. Aroma is cookies, mild sour wood as well as alcohol and fruits. Flavour is wood, some mild alcohol as well as herbal and mildly spicy notes. Hides the ABV very well. Pleasant stuff.

Cloudy red brown with a large beige head. Aroma had lacto, wood and sour and berries. Flavour was sour with lacto, sour berries and woody notes. Finished sour. This one is clearly a flemish sour. Please change the style admins.

Bottle 50cl. @ [ Chris O’s pre NYE Tasting ].Light unclear medium to dark amber color with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, wood, some yeast - sourness. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. But where is the alcohol 13.8% !! very well hidden .. [20081230]

Bottle at Chris o New Year tasting 08/09. Hazy chestnut colour, lasting beige. Slight sour aroma. Quite amazing for a Pitfield beer to get this sourness.
