Weird. Slight bitter, fairly sweet, could use some acidity. Plenty of wood, grapes/white wine, some vanilla. Very flavorful.

Sampled from tap at Kaapse BAF 2016. Slightly hazy golden with white head. Sweet malts, sweet grain, mild spoces and yeast. Bit of a brandy burn and floral notes afterwards. Medium sweet, light bitter. Medium body, soft carbonation. Dry mouthfeel and bittersweet vegetal finish.

Tap at BAF. Clear dark golden with off white head. Lots of raisins, white grapes, lots of sweet malts, strong apple juice, bitter herbs, light spicy yeast and alcohol. Over medium sweet and alcoholic bitterness. Full bodied.

0,33l bottle at home. BB 12/2022. by accident I knocked the bottle over in the cellar, and foam and also some liquid started coming out, so I decided to drink this one rather quick (cap not tight enough or too much carbonation?). amber clear color, rather big white head. smells of spices, peppery, yeast, some fruits, light yoghurt notes, some alcohol, dark fruits, some wood. overall nice smell but a bit weird, though rather unique. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes rather alcoholic, citric, some dark fruits, bit glueish, some mango, more exotic fruits, light raisins, bitter herbs. finishes lightly bitter and a bit harsh (alcoholic) with some exotic fruit notes, raisins and some wood notes. overall decent, rather alcoholic, if my bottle didnt have issues, aging for a year or two would have been the way to go.

Bottle (from saveur biere). Pours dark amber with beigeish head. The head stays forever. Aroma is fruity, yeasty, some grapes, malt, some sourness. Flavor is sweet, sour and bitter, fruits, apples, grapes, wine, malt, some booze, and a lot of yeast. Finish is bitter, grapes and sourness. Covers alcohol rather well for ABV. Carbonation is on the high side. Overall: as a saison this is total failure for me (I don’t really get any stuff I like about saisons from this), but in a hedonistic scale this is ok belgian strong ale.

At GBF. Moussy, off-white, more or less stable head over a light hazy orange beer. Pleasant bouquet of candied banana and ’gummi bears’, caramel, cognac, old furniture, dried berries, grapes, sweet white wine, hazelnut paste and quite a lot of solvent-like effects (varnish). Dried fruit sweetness, yellow raisin, dried banana, soft carbo, quite vinous mouthfeel, honeyish and caramelly malt sweet middle, some drying woodiness, retronasal solvents, strong alcohol presence (a bit wry even) and after all that, the unmistakable flavor of white wine remaining, as in many wine-barrel aged beers. Complex and interesting, but much more a barley wine than a saison at this ABV and body (I really do not understand why this word is used totally inappropriately so much these days - must be the hype and nothing but the hype), and frankly a bit crude in comparison with e.g. the White Label stouts they made, which are rarely less than world class.
