Award winning Mad Goose is a zesty pale ale with a refreshing citrus finish, inspired by our own fearsome feathered friend. Her hiss was far worse than her bite except around mating season when it was best to stay inside for another well earnt beer.

Another beer I’m surprised I haven’t rated before – but then again maybe not because I’m not that keen on purity beers. Anyway, cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours golden yellow with a small foamy off-white head. Not much of an aroma – just hints of floral hops and marmalade. In the mouth it is juicy and slightly bitter with floral hops and hints of citrus. Later some herbal hints too,. Bitterness lasts into the slightly dry finish. It’s reasonable – but not particularly memorable.

Cask pint at the Victoria. Mildly hazy golden pour, half finger creamy head. Soft malty aroma, bready. Hops is caramel, bready, sweet winding up to a gentle bitterness at the finish. Velvety, silky feel.

Third by cask at Purecraft. Shared with Finn. Clear golden-brown body, stable white head, spotty lacing. Moderate floral hops on the nose. Citrus and juicy malts to a well-blended taste character. End fruity bitter. Moreish. (Birmingham 03.02.2020).

A little too harshly bitter for me. A bit unbalanced, but a nice full body. Purecraft burmingham
