We threw our first Octoberfest festival here at the brewery in 1990 – it was actually inside the brewery, amidst the tanks. We can’t do that so much anymore (there were about 18,000 people at our last Octoberfest), but we still love having everyone here for our Octoberfest each fall. Come join us this year!
Harpoon Octoberfest is a malty tribute to fall, balanced by a gentle hop bitterness. In keeping with tradition, it is a Marzen-style beer, brewed with abundant quantities of Munich, Chocolate, and Pale malts. Those malts provide a solid, full body and create the beer’s deep color. It is a rich, flavorful beer.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007. A deep red beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty with quite strong notes of caramel as well as lighter notes of straw. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and straw, leading to a slightly bitter finish.

Bottle...pours amber - loved the malt flavor and not too bitter - definitely taste a caramel/chocolate flavor. This one is good...definitely could drink a few more in one setting. I bet it’s tasty on tap

This ale poured a dark orange colour with a nice bright white head. To the nose you could get scents of ripe fruit, brown sugar and milk. First taste was smooth with flavours of hopps, slightly burnt malts and cider. The finish is hoppy with a litter bitterness. Very good.

Bottle at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007
Muddy amber color. Some caramel aroma, caramel flavor too, a bit dry at the end. Boring.

(Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Dark reddish brown colour with huge, frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of dried fruit. Malty taste with dark and/or dried fruit and spicy hops in a finish with balanced bitterness. Solid malt sweetness in the background. Doesn’t really remind of a german octoberfestbeer, leaning more in the kellerbier or vienna direction. Nice and drinkable.

Coppery aroma of grain with a hint of hops. Copper color, thick tan head. Watery, yet decent, barley taste. Copper finish. Simply too metallic.

Bottle, from a friend in Georgia. Clear crimson color, with a medium sized white head. The aroma is quite malty, with a pretty malty flavor as well. It’s pretty decent in that most of the Octoberfests I’ve had this season aren’t anything to call home about. I could see myself getting this one again if I could find it.

Dark amber color, creamy beige head. Caramelly malty nose. Also flavor is mostly malty with some caramel. Lightly hoppy. Not really a German oktoberfestbeer, but balanced and good with its own.

Bottled. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is wheat, caramel, hops and earth. Flavour is the same. Not really any aftertaste noteable. A quite typical oktoberfest beer.
