reDANKulous Imperial Red IPA is a no frills, bold 9.5% ABV India Pale Ale. It pours a pleasing burnt amber with some sweetness due to the Caramalt and roasted barley used in the malt bill. But hops are the true headliner in this elaborate sensory experience. The spicy, piney, tropical complexities of Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe hops hit you right away with their dank aroma—and they stick around. Take a sip to have your palate simultaneously walloped and caressed in all the right places. Combined, the hops take the beer to 90 IBUs. It’s not just ridiculous. It’s reDANKulous.

Bottle shared thanks to MariusPoenari. Almost clear reddish mahogany with beige head. Strong resinous hops, caramel, light roasted malts, dried plums, raisins, quite some marmalade. Over medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied.

Bottle shared thanks to mariuspoenari. Near clear brown with an off white head. Aroma of caramel malt, toffee, overripe fruits, resinous hops and some light fruity hops. Flavour is above moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. [21-07-2016]

Bottle from my brother. Pours out a nice mahogany color, thick creamy head. For something labelled dank, it’s kind of malty. Aroma definitely favors some darker malts, Munich dunkel style, with a hint of some funky sour bitterness on the tail end. Taste offers an initial bitter bite, but recedes into some more malty notes. The bit of up front bitterness lingers for a while, however. Not at all what I was expecting.

Tap@Bishops Arms (Savoy), Malmö (09/07/2016) - dark amber red coloured pour with off-white head. Sweet malty and fruity aroma and taste, with notes of marmalade, citrus rind, grapefruit, dank and piney hoppy action, big overt sweet caramel malty backbone, some fruity citric spice in the close, kind of Amber meets IIPA/meets BW, worked well for me!

12 oz bottle. Pours a reddish brown with an off-white head. Pine citrus aroma, toasted caramelly malts. Juicy citrus hop flavor is followed by toasted malt; kind of tea-like. Mostly dominated by the hoppy juicy citrus and pine as I drink more. Black pepper. Reasonably tasty!

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours so darkly ruddy it must be hld against strong lilght for the beautiful red glow. "NW" hop aroma. Full bodied or nearly.Flavor does suggest dank, and there’s fruity and piney hop. Not getting much, if any, of that "amber chocolate" thing. Not wholly dry, but well balanced by hops. Tough not strongly dank, it is delicious.

Flaska från SB. BBD 29-feb 16 dvs mer än en månad för gammal. För att vara en Imperial Red hyfsat balanserad. Men visste är det sött. Massor av karamell, kolaremmar och smörkakor, syrlig grapemarmelad, kompott på röda bär / röd rabarber och tallskott. Medelstor beska. Snarlik en amerikansk barley wine och riktigt gott. Tack Daniel!
