@ White Horse, Saintfield. Reddish-amber with pencil-thin artificial-looking head. The aroma is more caramelly. The body is soft, mostly caramelly and finishing with spice and a little bit of acidity. OK keg bitter.

50cl bottle from a Eurospar in Dalkey, Dublin. Dark amber with a dense cream head; rich malty aroma with orange fruit; full fruity malty body with a burnt caramel dryness, and a short herbal bitter finish. A touch of boiled sweets from the pasteurisation, but otherwise a decent bitter.

Cask-conditioned at the Hillgrove Porter Stores, Bristol 19/03/09. Deep amber in colour, with a decent off-white head. Malty aroma, with some fruit and grassy hops. Flavour was sweetish, with some caramel and a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask, The Crown, Belfast. Cloudy somewhat gloomy appearance, think it was brown, but hard to tell under those gas lamps...Some nice fragrant hops in the aroma, with caramel malt and nuts too. Similar themes resonated in the flavour which was surprisingly complex. Dryish, gently bitter finish. Really quite good.
