Cask @ Navigation Tavern Beer Festival. Mirfield. Yellow-blond with a creamy head. Its strength is there but not too overbearing with a soured citrus aroma and taste that creates a fair bitterness.

Gravity poured half-pint at the Kings Head, Norwich on 20 Apr 2013. Mine was 6.4% ABV according to the chalk board. Light amber body with a thinning white head. Hoppy with a dry finish: expected more to be honest, this was one of four high alcohol beers on gravity pour during the CAMRA AGM weekend in Norwich that this pub put on (along with a host of hand-pulls). I tried all four (and three hand-pulls), this was the least interesting of the stronger brews that day. Although hoppy it lacked oomph, or class: nothing wrong with it, just when against other beers of the same alcohol content it faded into the background somewhat.

Hazy amber beer. Thick frothy head. Rich deep hoppy beer for England! (But doesn’t match US versions for hops and weight!). A little spice in the dry finish. Soft and frothy palate.

Bottle from Pig’s Ear festival in December ’08, anyway the bottle reports bb October ’08
The bottle is a slow gusher; it pours a hazy amber color with huge head, quite solid and persistent. The aroma is a bit malty, hoppy, and with some chemicals, metallic, that can be explained with the extra fermentation. Correct body strength, it has just a metallic caramel flavor, high bitterness and some vegetables. This beer would not have lasted the trip to India...

Bottled. An amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and straw as well as a touch of spices. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and citrusy hops, leading to a dry, bitter, and orangey finish. Thanks fonefan for sharing.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of fonefan. Almost clear amber golden with a dense, creamy off-white head that leaves a neat lacework. Fat, citrusy hop aroma. Medium body with sweet fruits and a dry and astringent bitterness. 230808

Bottle, shared by Fonefan. A clear, golden beer with a nice, small off-white head. Citrusy hops and some caramel in the aroma. The flavor is sweet, piney and citrusy. Caramel too. Good, but not impressing. Full-bodied, almost astringently bitter. Lasting bitter finish with pine and resin. A surprising English IPA. (080823)
