You may feel that you have tasted this stout before, perhaps in 2008; it was a good double stout of the American style, roasty and creamy. And now, having existed, it is bound to recur eternally, weightily reminding us of the ephemeral uniqueness of our own being, lighter than air, our movements as free as they are insignificant.

Dark brown. Med head. Roasty, a touch boozy. Light fruitiness, big rich roast, chocolate. Light nuttiness. This is pretty good.

Taste: molasses, lots of roasted malt, some coffee and black chocolate, low to moderately sweet. Finishes with quite high bitterness.
Overall: pretty good.

355 ml can. Pours a very dark brown with moderate tan head. Aromas of chocolate, a bit of vanilla, and roasted malts. Flavors of same. Clean. Nice. Nothing special. Expecting more for the ABV.

Poured from 355mL can (pkg 10102024). Very dark brown with small beige head. Dry roast malt, feint chocolate, super subtle dark fruit (moreso on the nose). Simple, quite nice.

On tap at Dageraad, pours black with a medium brown head. Aroma has plenty of oats, medium roasted malt, and a touch of cocoa. Flavour is old school, with cocoa, medium roasted malt, sugars, and a touch of coffee. Sweeter than expected, but the roasted character is real nice. Not overly complex but surprisingly drinkable for the gravity. Good stuff.

200mL pour at the taproom. Pours black with a tan head. Toasted malts on the nose. Flavour has roasted malts and dark chocolate, a bit sweeter than expected and not as roasty; dryish finish. Palate is a bit syrupy on the way out. Enjoyable, but a bit disappointing.
